Who doesn’t love a good cold drink on a hot summer day? Some of my favorite summer drinks are sweet tea and lemonade. Here’s a recipe you can use to make these traditional drinks a little fancier!
6 fresh, ripe peaches
3 cups of water
1 1/2 cups of sugar
Stevia to equal 1/2 cup of sugar. (I use liquid stevia, so it’s one dropper, you can also just do another 1/2 cup of sugar.)
Peel and slice the peaches and put them in a kettle. Add the water and sugar and bring to a boil. Mash up the peaches some with a spoon or whisk. Let the mixture at a low boil for 10 minutes. Then remove from the heat, and let it cool. Strain the juice off into a quart jar. Now you have peach syrup! Store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
Use 3 T. of syrup for a 16 oz. serving of tea or lemonade.
Use 1 cup of syrup for 1/2 gallon of tea or lemonade.
When you are making your drink, you can halve the sugar because the syrup is sweet!
