I love Middle Eastern food, and I think I could live on hummus! I also don’t really like to cook, but I decided that if I moved away from home I would have to start making my own hummus instead of eating Ginger’s. Thankfully, this recipe is super easy to make.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup tahini
- 2-4 tbsp cold water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
- juice of 1 lemon (2-3 tbsp)
- 1 (15 oz) can of chickpeas, rinsed and drained
Put the tahini, cold water, olive oil, cumin, salt, garlic, ad lemon juice in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.
Next, add the chickpeas to the mix. Blend for about 4 minutes, pausing to scrape down the edges of the blender. Keep blending until the hummus is all smooth. If it seems too thick add some more cold water.
Garnish and serve immediately or keep in a sealed bowl in the refrigerator for a few days.
Hummus is delicious if eaten with crackers, carrots and cucumbers, or Middle Eastern breads.

I enjoy hummus, so I should try making this. Where do you find your tahini?

I have bought it at Giant Food and Giant Eagle. It can be difficult to find, but it’s usually in the international food aisle.
